I am a doctor of Optometry, providing eye exams for glasses and contact lenses prescriptions and for general eye health, in which medications may be prescribed as well. I carry both the latest contact lens brands and samples of the newest solutions, and can certainly find the right fit for each patient. I am not a glasses or contacts seller, so new patients need not feel pressure to purchase from my practice. I pride myself on the excellent services that I offer -- a thorough exam, at a pace that suits the patient and at an affordable price. From infants to elders, all patients are welcome for exams. Thank you and I hope to see you soon.
Schedule an Appointment
Walk-ins are welcome, but scheduling an appointment can give us both a peace of mind. You can schedule an appointment with me by calling (775) 359-8220.
A Promise to my Patients
Ever since I've earned my Doctorate in Optometry in 2010, I have returned to my hometown of Reno to provide quality eye care. Because I am an independent doctor inside the Walmart Vision Center, I can take as much time that is needed to perform a very thorough eye exam. I was taught to examine the eye in many different ways and I always consider an eye problem through many different approaches. Glasses, contacts, and treatment of eye disease, I promise to guard the vision of each person that comes to me.
About The Doctor
Dr. Billy Mendoza was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. He attended Robert McQueen High School and went on to graduate from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. He then moved to Orange County, California, for four years to attend the second oldest optometry school in the nation: Southern California College of Optometry. He earned his Doctorate degree in 2010 and was the recipient of the Dr. William Feinbloom Low Vision Award.
Dr. Mendoza's clinical experience includes a clinical rotation at the Optometric Center of Los Angeles, an inner city clinic that provides eye care to the underprivileged individuals of South Central Los Angeles. He was also at the Veterans Affairs Hospitals in Bakersfield, California, where he was further trained in disease management. Mendoza also learned to use specialty optics to improve the quality of life of visually impaired individuals during his rotation at the Center for the Partially Sighted in Studio City, California. He then ended his externship experience at the The Laser Center of Newport Beach, California, where he further developed the skills to manage patients alongside eye surgeons.
He began practicing in the Walmart Vision Center at Northetowne in July 2010, followed by a move to the Vision Center at the Super Walmart next to the Grand Sierra Resort in October of 2010. Dr. Billy Mendoza hopes to make a significant impact to individuals seeking eye care in Reno by providing easy accessibility to a high class eye exam in a relaxed and comfortable environment to the everyday person.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Billy Mendoza spends his time training in martial arts.
